Chateau Fonplegade is one of the oldest vineyards in Saint-Emilion, dating back to the 18th century. It was taken over in 2004 by Stephen & Denise Adams, owners of Pomerol’s acclaimed Château l’Enclos and Napa Valley’s White Cottage Winery, who completely renovated the winery, replanted many of the vineyards and begun farming organically to bring it up to the quality that it is today.
Fleur de Fonplegade is the second wine of Chateau Fonplegade, made from a blend of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. A very approachable, attractive wine even in its youth, offering a vibrant expression of this historic estate’s terrific vineyard. A bouquet of fresh red fruits and a full, round mouthfeel of generous plum and redcurrant fruit with velvety tannins, elegant acidity and remarkable minerality.
