On 20th September 1983, Lesley Freer joined the Amps family grocery business and very quickly moved into the accounts department working with Gladys Bosworth. When Gladys retired, Lesley took over the accounts and has been in charge of them ever since.
During her 40 years at Amps, Lesley has helped the Amps family grow the wine business into a successful award winning company, with her well thought out ideas and great customer service. Whilst also managing to bring up 3 children, one of whom Danielle, followed her into the business.
The majority of you will know Lesley as the very polite lady of Amps, but don’t pay your invoices on time and she will be on the phone immediately chasing payment. She is not nicknamed “The Rottweiler” for no reason!! Although my late father always referred to her as “Old Ma Freer”, none of us know where that nickname came from.
As with everything Lesley does, her attention to detail and diligence, means our accounts are the easiest our accountants have to audit. She is the fountain of all knowledge in the business and has an incredible ability to remember customer names, even some we have not seen for years!
On Wednesday 20th September 2023, we will open a special bottle of Champagne to celebrate a very special lady’s time in the business and will look forward to the next 40 years!
To celebrate there will be 15% off everything for one day only on Wednesday 20th September! *
Offer applies online and in both stores on Wednesday 20th September only. Offer applies to everything, excluding gift vouchers, events, courses, mixed cases, products already on offer and delivery charges.
