In 2015, the Champagne Taittinger House and UK Wine Agent Hatch Mansfield partnered to create Domaine Evremond, a premium English sparkling wine. They purchased a fruit farm in Chilham, Kent, marking the first investment in the UK by a Champagne house, and remains the only project to have been started by a Champagne house from scratch. Launching April 3rd: Classic Cuvée Edition 1, a non-vintage blend (55% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay, 10% Pinot Meunier). Aged over 3 years on lees, it has received high praise from early tastings. The name honours Charles de Saint-Évremond, who introduced Champagne to the court of Charles II. A citric, bright lemon and green apple freshness defines the lively nose of the wine. More air allows lemony notes to peep through, as well as an ozone breeze. Fine, creamy bubbles immediately distinguish the slender palate, where more lemon freshness is bedded in the smoothness of that exemplary mousse.
