The high quality co-operative Produttori di Manduria in Puglia is inevitably best known for its red wines made from the region’s native Primitivo grape, but it has also had great success with the local white grape varieties, among them the little-known Verdeca used to make this superb-value, unoaked wine. It’s fresh yet full of fruit flavour and perhaps unsurprisingly given the label, a great match with fish. One sip and you’ll be hooked!
It was recently voted into the top 100 wines sold by independent wine merchants too. Here’s what the judges had to say:
“It’s a wine with a really attractive floral nose: very appealing. Ripe apple and white blossom on the palate. Good weight in the mouth, lovely gentle spice and a long finish. Bags of flavour and good acidity. Yummy! Just exactly the kind of well-priced and unusual wine we look for as independents.”
