Waterkloof is an exciting estate based in Stellenbosch, embracing everything that is great about South African wines. Through the vision of owner Paul Boutinot and winemaker Nadia Barnard, the estate has carefully selected the right grape varieties that complement their soils and climate. Working bio-dynamically, they are producing some of the most interesting wines in South Africa. The single varietal wines are great but the white and red blend are incredible; a real showcase of Waterkloof as an estate.
Sweet ripe fruits, incredibly supple on the palate for such a big wine, great length, this is superb! Already very approachable even in its early stage, but will pick up further complexity and harmony in bottle in the next couple of years. It works well with a variety of foods from pizza and tomato based pasta dishes to red meats.
